Our ABC South Australian Division is owned and operated by senior instructor Adam Couch.
Adam has almost 30 years in both commercial and recreational boating experience here in South Australia and Australia-wide. Adam holds many commercial marine qualifications and is passionate about marine safety. Adam has his Certificate 4 Training and Assessment, and has many years of instructional experience, teaching students within the commercial maritime industry a diverse range of courses and instructing and issuing South Australian boat licences.

How to Get your boat or jet ski licence
It really is as easy as A. B. C. Register to attend one of our training sessions where you will receive a comprehensive training package, and complete an RTO approved assessment. You will then present your Certificate of Completion to your nearest Service SA centre, and then after paying a small Government processing fee, you will be provided with your official licence. As an approved RTO, there is no requirement to complete any further testing after you have completed our assessment.
What is the minimun age to get your boat licence?
The minimum age to obtain a boat licence (including PWC) is 16 years. Under 16 years requires a Special Permit. These can only be obtained directly through Service SA.
Will I need to complete a practical test?
In South Australia, it is not a requirement to complete practical training for a boat licence (different rules apply for Special Permits – refer to www.sa.gov.au to find out more). We understand, however, that obtaining your licence is one thing, and operating a vessel is another! That’s why can provide practical training upon request – including launching/retrieving your boat/PWC, a safety checklist and operating on the water.
What happens if I fail?
We can never guarantee that everyone will pass – If you do fail the first time round, don’t stress!! We will give you additional training on the night to give you the confidence to resit the assessment. If you are unsuccessful after this, we will invite you back to attend another session.
What if I have trouble with literacy or language difficulties?
Let us know your limitations and we will do our best to adjust our training to give you the best opportunity to pass!
Can I pay on the day?
Preferably we would prefer you to pay via our booking system. This allows us to be confident in the number of attendees that are expected on the night. If paying online isn’t for you, please contact us and we can discuss alternative arrangements.
I have someone special to me who I want to ensure they obtain their licence through only through a trusted education provider. Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes, we do offer gift vouchers. These can be redeemed within 3 years of purchase.
What happens if I don't show up on the day?
We’ll be sorry that we missed you. Please let us know asap in advance if you are unable to attend. By doing this you allow room for someone else to attend (especially during peak periods). We will do our best to ensure we can reschedule your booking at your earliest convenience!
What is your refund policy?
Unless exceptional circumstances, we are unable to refund your booking fee. We will however do everything possible to rebook you to an alternative date.
